The Atlanta Falcons will be able to assemble a practice squad beginning at noon today, though I’m certain they’ve already thought a great deal about who they’re going to add. By the end of the day, there should be 11 players who will scrap for a chance to make it to the active roster at some point in the 2018 season. A year ago, a handful did, and in the past, Atlanta’s certainly had practice squad players who have turned out to be gems, from Ryan Schraeder to Brent Grimes.
They’ll certainly hope to find more of those gems. As the Falcons make decisions about practice squadders, we’ll round up the news right here, and then break down what we think of the decisions. Some early names to keep in mind include Jonathan Celestin, Sean Harlow, and Kurt Benkert, but after a pretty underwhelming preseason for most of their deep reserves, it would not be totally stunning if the Falcons rounded up a lot of players from other teams this time around.

The team has announced their practice squad:
TE Alex Gray
OT Daniel Brunskill
DB Deante Burton
TE Jaeden Graham
WR Devin Gray
C J.C. Hassenauer
DB Ryan Neal
LS Jeff Overbaugh
QB Kurt Benkert

- The Falcons re-added QB Kurt Benkert, as anticipated. Benkert announced it on his Instagram story, and will serve as Atlanta’s third quarterback this year.
- The Falcons have kept Jacob Tuitoi-Mariner, who had some flashes as a deep reserve at defensive tackle this summer. He can play a little end, too, and will get a chance to develop with Atlanta.
