The Atlanta Falcons are staying very active this week. They have already added defensive end Steven Means and safety Keith Tandy. Tandy was signed due to Keanu Neal heading to injured reserve. The team is making another roster move, likely due in part to to Devonta Freeman’s knee injury.
Now the team is bumping up running back Brian Hill from the practice squad to the 53 man roster, a league source told Jeanna Thomas of the Falcoholic. According to Hill last April, the Falcons got the best running back in the draft in the fifth round. Things did not go well from there, and after an underwhelming preseason, he was cut and stashed on the team’s practice squad.
The Cincinnati Bengals held onto Hill through final cuts this year, and the Falcons again brought him onto their practice squad. Hill is unlikely to get many touches in Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers even if Freeman is ruled out. While Dan Quinn has downplayed the injury to Freeman, it appears to be more serious that previously suggested. Tevin Coleman and fourth-round draft pick Ito Smith should get the bulk of the carries.
