Falcons vs. Panthers Week 2: What you need to know

The Falcons need this win, and Carolina looked beatable.

Yesterday, we saw the Panthers dismantle a pretty embarrassing Dallas Cowboys offense, while putting together a solid little offensive performance. They didn’t look like a team ready to fall apart, and they’ll certainly be a tough out on Sunday against the Falcons.

It’s a game the Falcons could really stand to win. They were lucky enough to see the Saints lose, but the Panthers and Bucs didn’t look like slouches, and they can’t afford to fall too far behind in what should be another competitive version of the NFC South. The good news, if you can call it that, is that Carolina’s suffocating defense was helped by Dallas’ unreal offensive ineptitude, and they’re already looking like they’ll be down 2-3 starters, depending on Luke Kuechly’s status. With the team’s schedule looking more daunting after Week 1 than anticipated—with the usual caveats about Week 1—there are no more freebies on this schedule. Well, maybe Arizona and Dallas.

As you start planning ahead for the weekend, here’s the key info you’ll need for the game. Let’s hope for the W.
