The Atlanta Falcons just enjoyed a listless football game against the Jaguars, but at least the starters were involved. The fourth and final preseason game against the Dolphins will be nothing but backups competing for roles and practice squad spots. Gird your loins, friends.
The most important questions surrounding this game are with some of the least important positions on the roster, at least heading into the season. That includes returners (who are less emphasized than ever before, particularly on kickoffs), fullback (where Ricky Ortiz and Jalston Fowler are battling it out), and spots like fifth and sixth receiver, fifth and sixth cornerback, and fifth defensive tackle. Those positions could matter a great deal, especially the returner and fullback spots, but they don’t necessarily make for great preseason watching.
Even so, follow along with this one to see who makes the final roster and who occupies anywhere from 7-10 of the practice squad spots heading into the season. Here’s what you need to know.
