Matt Bryant will be a game-time decision for Friday night’s tilt against the Chiefs

It’s not the worst news for the veteran kicker, though we hope he’s fully healthy soon.

Atlanta’s heading into Friday night’s game pretty healthy, which is the most important thing in preseason. Hopefully they’ll leave that game equally healthy, and with Matt Bryant ready to go for the third preseason game.

At the moment, Bryant is the only player who may not suit up Friday night for health-related reasons, though I still wouldn’t be shocked if the Falcons held out Julio Jones and/or Devonta Freeman again, just to be safe.

I’m still hopeful the Falcons will just hold Bryant out of this one. If he’s truly a game-day decision, one more week can’t hurt, and Bryant is an experienced enough veteran that only kicking in one or two preseason games isn’t going to hurt his preparation for the season in any way, shape, or form. It will also give David Marvin a longer look to push for a practice squad spot, and if he can’t hack it, the Falcons will update their contact list at kicker going forward.

So as much as I sincerely love Matt Bryant, I hope we won’t see him Friday night. Better safe than sorry with the golden leg.
