PFF: QB Matt Ryan lands on top 50 players for 2018 rundown

We’ve seen Falcons C Alex Mack and LB Deion Jones come in on Pro Football Focus’ top 50 players headed into 2018 list, and a third Bird has joined them.

Falcons QB Matt Ryan checks in in the top 30 range, and deservedly so. He’s one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, and his time with Kyle Shanahan upped his game tremendously, and helped him get out of his comfort zone in using his legs and in making throws he typically would’ve avoided earlier in his career.

Now that his contract is donezo, Ryan can focus on tending to those two new babies at home, and in trying to settle a firmer spot in Steve Sarkisian’s offense.

One thing we’ll say about Ryan is that you need to ignore all the “QB rankings” lists that are going to come out in the months ahead that try to argue with Ryan being a not top-tier player at the position. We all know that’s bunk, and that he’s one of the elite signal callers in the league. It’s silly to continue to watch people who are supposed to know what they’re doing rank him in absurdly low spots, but thankfully, that doesn’t translate to the field.

Ryan will continue to be Ryan, and the Mattural’s career will continue to soar as long as the team stocks him with weapons, gives him an offense he can maneuver in and his big pals up front on the offensive line keep him clean.

We know Julio Jones is left to be ranked on PFF’s list, but could another Falcons surprise?
