We are running down the best offensive performances of 2017, and this is our top 3 performance by the Atlanta Falcons.
#3. Tevin Coleman - 19 carries, 97 yards, two touchdowns
In more one ways than one, it was a day of celebration for the former running back out of the Indiana University.
The birth of twin children for Tevin Coleman was an introduction to the world for the newly crowned father. In a season where a number of Atlanta Falcons players became fathers, Coleman celebrated the introduction to fatherhood in a great fashion: with the second-highest rushing total of his young career along with a poetic two touchdown runs.
Getting the start because of a concussed-Devonta Freeman, Coleman took advantage of a prime opportunity and got off to a great start a 20-yard rush on the Falcons second drive of the game. On the Falcons first drive of the second half, Coleman scored from 3-yards out to give the Falcons a 27-6 lead early in the third. His 14-yard touchdown rush late in the fourth quarter placed a cap on the Falcons 34-20 win over division foe Tampa Bay.
Since the drafting of Coleman in 2015, the Falcons have utilized Coleman as a unique weapon against opposing defense. His ability to cause mismatches in the passing game was been tough to defend but on this day, Coleman was asked to take the mantle and lead the Falcons run game. It was the fifth contest of the season in which Coleman rushed for at least five yards per carry. A contest which was the third win in the row for Atlanta.
