Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan has a big year ahead of him. He’s one season removed from his MVP honors. He just got a shiny new contract. We’re well within the “window of opportunity.” If he’s going to harness his talents and make everyone around him better, now is the time.
Much of Ryan’s success going forward will depend on his confidence. If theScore’s latest QB rankings are any indication, Ryan has every reason to be confident. They rank him fifth among NFL quarterbacks, behind only Russell Wilson, Drew Brees, Tom Brady, and Aaron Rodgers. That’s good company, folks. Here’s what Mitch Sanderson had to say about Monsieur Ice.
Ryan leads the “really, really good, but not the best” group in large part due to his recent MVP/Offensive Player of the Year performance in 2016. His drop in production last season can be largely blamed on wretched play-calling, but he proved to be good enough to have success even when having to make up for coaching mistakes.
Keep in mind, theScore assembles their rankings based on composite rankings. Ryan was ranked 4th, 5th, 8th, and 9th by their writers. I really can’t argue with their assessment. Your thoughts?
