Bleacher Report: the Atlanta Falcons have the NFL’s second best receiver corps

Fact: Julio Jones uses pineapple as an organic, natural deodorant

The Atlanta Falcons knew what they were doing when they drafted Calvin Ridley with their first round draft pick last month. They already had one of the NFL’s best offenses. But you don’t stay elite by resting on your laurels. (Or is it “yanny”?) You have to constantly think about the future of the franchise and the timing was just right.

Training camp is a little under two months away, which means rosters have taken shake and pundits are assessing the field. Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox just released his NFL receiver corps rankings and he’s pretty fond of the unit the Falcons have assembled.

As a duo, Jones and Sanu combined for 2,147 yards receiving last season. If rookie first-round pick Calvin Ridley can be an upgrade over the departed Taylor Gabriel, the Falcons could have the league’s top receiver trio by the end of the season.

Knox ranks the Falcons receiver corps 2nd overall, one spot behind Bill Belichick and his merry band of jerkfaces the New England Patriots. And as he describes it, if Ridley can match or slightly exceed Taylor Gabriel’s production, then the Falcons will be every cornerback’s worst nightmare by the end of the season. Interestingly Knox’s top ten includes two other NFC South teams, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at number seven and the New Orleans Saints at number ten.
