We have been hearing some unsubstantiated rumors this offseason that star wide receiver Julio Jones is looking to get paid. Again. A few years after signing his blockbuster extension, his average salary has dropped beneath a bunch of guys like Sammy Watkins and Jarvis Landry, who are unquestionably not Julio Jones.
Comparatively, those guys are in completely different leagues. Additionally, Jones signed a blockbuster deal at the same time, and for about the same amount, as Dez Bryant and Demaryius Thomas. Bryant has been cut, and Thomas is put up very pedestrian numbers the last few years.
Ian Rapoport has more info on Jones skipping OTAs.
From Up to the Minute Live: #Falcons WR Julio Jones is among those not expected to be at OTAs, sources say, after being in and out last year. He also wants an update to his contract. Considering the kind of teammate he is, it sounds like the team is willing to consider it. pic.twitter.com/PulYkczo57

Jones is skipping OTAs, which Rapsheet considers “not a big deal” for the Falcons. The team is not worried that Jones is missing. Jones missed some OTAs last season and it did not seem to slow him down in the regular season.
Most importantly, Jones wants a “correction” or “update” to his contract. We saw Antonio Brown get some extra cash after he outplayed his deal, so it would not be odd for Jones to receive the same. Per Rapsheet, the Falcons are “amendable” to handing him some more money.
Jones has $34.4 million in base salary the next three seasons. It sounds like a new deal should happen, so expect that number to jump. I would guess Atlanta would like to add a year or two to the back end of the deal, along with a hefty signing bonus. At least enough to pay him more than Davante Adams.
