Falcons cut WR Detrich Clark to make room for Terrell McClain

It’s the first little move of the offseason program.

The Falcons have made their move to open up a roster spot post-Terrell McClain signing, waiving rookie undrafted free agent Detrich Clark.

The Colorado State product ran a strong 40 and had a fairly productive college career, but he was facing long odds of making this receiver-stacked roster. We wish him well wherever he lands, and I fully expect him to hook on with another team.

The Falcons still currently have 11 receivers on the roster competing for, at most, six roster spots, so this promises to be an interesting summer. Julio Jones, Mohamed Sanu, Calvin Ridley, and Justin Hardy all would seem to be locked into roster spots, while Marvin Hall and Reggie Davis will compete against the likes of rookie WR/CB Russell Gage and rookie UDFAs Dontez Byrd and Devin Gray. You can expect special teams value to matter a great deal in this particular battle, regardless of who actually wins.
