Thomas Dimitroff has made a habit of trading up in the first round. He started it with Sam Baker, which did not work out very well. Since then, trades have resulted in some of the team’s very best players: Julio Jones, Desmond Trufant, and Takk McKinley.
The Falcons didn’t move up on the first day of the draft, shockingly, but they appear to be on the move now to get their man in the sixth round. They’ve swapped their two seventh rounders for pick #194 with the Rams.

If recent drafts are any indication, if the Falcons like a guy enough to trade up for him, the player turns into a big contributor, though this late in the draft who knows who they’re after. We’ll know in a moment if it’s a defensive tackle, a linebacker, a cornerback, or something more surprising.
