We know Atlanta’s schedule now, and while it has its share of quirks and daunting stretches, it’s not an incredibly difficult slate on paper. That may be why the initial wave of reactions seems to be mostly cautious optimism, with a healthy undercurrent of nervousness running through.
To wit, here’s a poll with about 1,000 responses we got this evening on Twitter, which has over 90% of respondents expecting at least nine wins for Atlanta in 2018. If you think the Falcons only win their home divisional games and cupcakey matchups with the Browns, Cardinals, Giants, Ravens, and Bengals, they’re basically already there, so it’s not particularly difficult to figure out why that particular strain of optimism is running high.
