If, like me, you hold some vague hope that the Falcons will return to their old logo and older uniforms at some point in the future, you will be disappointed by this news.
Matthew Tabeek at the mothership said last month (and I completely missed it) that the team appears to have no plans to make changes to their uniforms in 2018. He does, at least, leave the door open a crack for the Falcons to re-consider over the course of the offseason.
I receive a ton of emails about the uniforms – and it’s no secret that the majority of Falcons fans would love to see the team change uniforms (and go back to some previous looks/color combinations). As of right now, I have not heard anything about uniforms changes for the 2018 season. So, no, there are no official plans to my knowledge.
Whether the Falcons will roll out the throwback black uniforms, as they did multiple times in 2016 and 2017, is an open question at this point. I’m certainly hopeful the team will do so because those uniforms are awesome, but it sounds like the team otherwise is planning to roll ahead with their red, white and black home uniforms and white, red, and black road uniforms. There’s nothing wrong with that, but still, mild bummer.
So if you’re hoping for drastic changes, keep hope alive, but keep your expectations low for 2018. I know I will.
