It’s Ty Sambrailo Tyme, er, Time in Atlanta. The veteran former Bronco and current Atlanta swing tackle is stepping into the starting lineup for Ryan Schraeder, who has either been injured or ineffective or both all season long.
Sambrailo, who once surrendered approximately ten sacks in a game to noted struggle bus passenger Vic Beasley, is hardly the most inspiring choice to take over the position. But he’s relatively young (he’ll be 27 next year), shouldn’t be overly expensive to re-sign, and has a chance to show the Falcons he deserves to come back and compete for right tackle a year from now. It’s a low-risk gamble for a 4-8 Falcons team, albeit one that’s not particularly likely to pay off.
We’ll see how Sambrailo fares against a solid Green Bay front seven, and if he can do a better job of keeping Matt Ryan upright and alive than Schraeder and others have done.
Ty Sambrialo lining up at right tackle ahead of Ryan Schraeder in pre-game drills, as was the case in practice this week.
