The Falcons defense was not good against the Buccaneers on Sunday. However, they did just enough to help the team secure their 7th win of the season with several guys standing out for their effort. It wasn’t exactly an overwhelming performance, but we’ll celebrate what we can. Here are your candidates for the defensive player of the game.
Damontae Kazee
The second year safety has been a god-send for this dismal defense. He picked up his 7th interception of the year in this game and has been playing well all season. Of any young player on this defense, Kazee has made the strongest case to get significant snaps again in 2019.
Grady Jarrett
The raw stats don’t tell the full story. He was disrupting the middle of the pocket repeatedly and is the catalyst for anything good that happens with the defensive line. The same was true again on Sunday, even if the raw numbers don’t show it.
Takk McKinley
Takk got his 7th sack of the year against the Bucs and has been showing that he’s a quality pass rusher in recent games. His play has improved over the last few games, so the hope is he is able to build off of this going into 2019.
