The Falcons selected Calvin Ridley 26th overall in the 2018 season. He was considered polished but fans did not expect him to start breaking records in his first year. He’s proven to be an exceptional route runner and that has turned him into a strong red zone threat.

On the last Falcons game of the year, the Falcons put together a beautifully designed play in the end zone with Ridley faking a reverse then breaking out wide. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, on a particularly dominant stretch, left him completely uncovered. Ridley was able to slow-walk into the end zone for his 10th of the year.

The biggest news is he edged out Justin Miller for the Falcons’ most rookie touchdowns. The former tight end scored nine times back in 1980. If history indicates anything, it is that Ridley’s record will stand for a very long time.
