The Falcons are toast. The Panthers are toast waiting to pop out of the toaster. The net result is that this game is going to be somewhere between surprisingly ferocious and horrendous, and I would suspect the latter.
It doesn’t matter much at this stage of the season, but as we learned last week, it’s still a small delight to see the Falcons playing well. If they do so again, it’ll hurt their draft stock but show their ability to hang with a rival, which is worth something, even if it’s just a short afternoon of fleeting happiness.
Anyways, to it. This is your open thread, so enjoy (?) as you will.
Atlanta Falcons @ Carolina Panthers, Week 16
When: Sunday, December 23, 1 p.m. EST
Where: Bank of America Stadium, Charlotte, North Carolina
Channel: FOX
Radio: 92.9 The Game
Announcers: Dick Stockton, Mark Schlereth, Jennifer Hale
Streaming: FOXSportsGo
Prediction: Falcons lose, 24-20
Key Questions: Will the Panthers even bother to play Cam Newton with their playoff hopes all but extinguished and Newton clearly flailing? Will the Falcons go right back to being terrible on offense against a quality defense? Will this game be watchable?
