If you were going to take a poll of Falcons fans about the best defensive player on the roster right now, there are some good options. Some might argue Deion Jones while others would pound the table for Damontae Kazee. Few, however, would dispute that Grady Jarrett belongs on any such list.
Jarrett proved it yet again this week by being selected the NFC Defensive Player of the Week. What did Grady do to deserve this honor? Other than singlehandedly humiliating the Cardinals offensive line on multiple occasions, Jarrett had 7 tackles, 2 sacks and a forced fumble.

This past offseason, the Falcons made sure to get players like Matt Ryan, Jake Matthews and Ricardo Allen signed to long-term deals. Most thought that Grady would also be in that list. The Falcons have indicated they have every intention of getting Jarrett signed for the long term, and this honor just hammers home why the team needs to get it done.
