Brian Hill, Eric Saubert got reps at fullback for Falcons vs. Packers

Go figure.

The Atlanta Falcons are trying out a new fullback.

The team’s Matt Tabeek noted that running back Brian Hill is filling in for the spot today.

Hill, of course, is the 2017 fifth rounder who spent some of his rookie season elsewhere before returning to Atlanta in 2018. He’s trying to find his footing with the organization, but so far, hasn’t gotten a lot of looks at the running back spot. Could fullback be his future position in the NFL?

Here’s to Hill making an impact in the run game as a blocker. The team sure could use some help there.

Saubert also got a look at fullback.

Saubert is another of the team’s 2017 fifth rounders who needs to etch his place with the team. He’s got potential as a pass-catcher and a blocker, so this feels a bit more experimental than anything else. Hill is probably the more likely of the two to find a home here.

To both’s credit, the Falcons ran the ball a bit better against the Packers than they have as of late. Now, that’s not saying a lot considering where things have been, but the only way to go is up, right?

We’ll see how the team settles this spot as the season goes on.
