On paper, the Falcons offense had a difficult matchup. Washington came into the game with one of the best defenses in the league. That fell apart on Sunday as the Falcons offense looked as dangerous as it ever has, tearing up Washington for 38 points and getting it done on the ground and through the air. There are several good candidates to choose from for our offensive player of the game.
This was the Tevin Coleman fans have been clamoring for. He was a danger on the ground and in the air. Coleman carried the ball 13 times for 88 yards (6.8 ypc average) and caught it five times for 68 yards and 2 TDs. It was one of his best outings in recent memory and it served as a reminder that the Falcons running back depth has been outstanding and can continue to be great.
The star QB of the team finds his name on the list yet again with another impressive performance. Minus the one interception, he was nearly flawless all game. He was 26/38 for 350 yards and 4 TDs with the one INT. His passer rating of 121.6 will only lift his already ridiculous season average. This team would not be anywhere near 4-4 without his great play this year.
The best receiver in the league showed why he deserves those accolades. His 7 catches for 121 yards were impressive, but his first TD of the season was a display of his raw power and drive. When Julio Jones plays at his best, this offense is nearly unstoppable.
The offensive line
Ryan was only sacked 2 times against one of the best defenses in the league. The running game averaged 6.4 yards per carry. The passing game netted 350 yards and involved 6 different receivers. Given the concerns coming into this game, this OL played remarkably well against a formidable opponent. They deserve a ton of credit for this win.
