The Atlanta Falcons have played very poorly over the last three games, scoring under 20 points in each one and getting blown out twice. In light of that, it’s no surprise that they’re underdogs against a Ravens team that has won both of Lamar Jackson’s starts, even though they’re at home.
It wasn’t all that long ago that the oddsmakers would not even consider making the Falcons an underdog at home, but much has changed in a very short time as the Falcons have fallen to 4-7. The fact that they’re a mere field goal underdog at home probably has more to do with Baltimore’s defense struggling of late than it does with Atlanta’s perceived chances.
What does Atlanta have going for them? Jackson has been a bit turnover-prone in his starts thus far, even if he’s a nightmare to defend in general. Atlanta’s not been at home this past month except for their game against Dallas, where they lost narrowly, and do generally play better in Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Finally, they might have Deion Jones back, and his impact on this defense cannot possibly be overstated.
Other than that, it’s best to admit that we have no idea if Atlanta’s going to dig deep at last and come up with a winning performance or continue to fold. Best to go in with a bottle of your favorite spirit and zero expectations.
