The Falcons take on the most disgusting football team on the planet Saints this evening. On the one hand, watching the Falcons play on Thanksgiving is something special. On the other hand, if the Falcons and Saints continue on their current trajectories, it could get ugly. Real ugly.
Matt Ryan’s ability to put points on the board will be instrumental tonight. If the Falcons are going to win this game, it won’t be because they shut down the Saints offense. Because let’s be honest, that’s going to be virtually impossible. Ryan will, of course, need pass protection to put said points on said board. A couple days ago, it didn’t appear the Falcons would need to worry about rookie edge Marcus Davenport. But NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport is now reporting that Davenport’s toe is feeling a lot better and he’s “expected to play.”
“He may actually be back tonight. My understanding is it is trending in the right direction and if there are no setbacks, then Marcus Davenport ... is in fact expected to play.”
Davenport is the best rated rookie edge, according to Pro Football Focus. The Falcons offensive line will undoubtedly have their hands full, if he does in fact play. So that’ll be fun to watch ... said nobody ever.
Now go grab yourself a turkey leg, a cold beverage, etc. Tonight may get dicey.
