The Atlanta Falcons are headed for a buzzsaw in New Orleans. Fresh off two losses of their own, with the Saints running roughshod over other teams most of the season, it’s hard not to see this one as the final nail in the coffin for the Falcons if they lose.
I’ll be honest, this one doesn’t look good for Atlanta, which hasn’t been playing competent defense in recent weeks and faces one of their most significant challenges of the season in that regard. Couple that with a handful of less-than-stellar road performances on offense and you’ve got a recipe for disaster.
What’s working in the Falcons’ favor? Virtually nothing except a history of playing tough, competitive games against the Saints regardless of circumstance, and the fact that the offense is still plenty capable of huge games. If they pull this off it will be the victory of the year, but I wouldn’t bet a pound of turkey on them doing so.
