The hope, all along, was that the Falcons would have stayed afloat in the NFC playoff race and Deion Jones would return against the Cowboys or Saints to help carry them to the playoffs. Neither of those things have happened, however, and now tomorrow night’s Falcons-Saints game doesn’t even have the return of Debo to recommend it.
Deion Jones (foot) has been ruled out against New Orleans. Big blow for a Falcons team that sure could use him in the middle of the defense against the Saints.

Jones was activated ahead of the Cowboys game, stoking hopes that he could return for that game. He didn’t and the Falcons fell short, and now he won’t be back against a Saints team he has traditionally victimized. The only people more disappointed than the fans are probably the Falcons and Jones himself.
With the Falcons essentially dead in the water—it’ll be official if they lose against the Saints—it’s perfectly fine to not rush Deion Jones back. Heck, it’s fine if he doesn’t return at all in 2018 if the Falcons aren’t going anywhere anyways, since they’re badly going to need him in 2019. But hopefully Atlanta can figure that out one way or the other quite soon, and shelf Debo for the year if they need to or get him back to wreak his particular brand of havoc for what will hopefully be a fun few games at the end of the season.
Thanksgiving isn’t looking like it’s going to be a ton of fun, unfortunately. Let’s hope the Falcons have one hell of a surprise for us.
