The Atlanta Falcons and Dallas Cowboys tout identical 4-5 records, and they meet this weekend. The Falcons and Cowboys clashed last season, with Adrian Clayborn setting the team record and earning his 2018 payday with six sacks. Things are a bit different this time around for the Falcons’ defense, but this is a must-win for both teams. With that: Friday’s Falcoholinks.
Stopping Zeke
Plainly: Ezekiel Elliott is a problem. For this team: Ezekiel Elliott is the problem. After watching Nick Chubb eviscerate Atlanta for 176 rushing yards and a touchdown, along with 33 yards through the air and a touchdown, the Falcons are in for a long day with Zeke.
This defense managed to shut down Saquon Barkley and Adrian Peterson, but after last week’s display, the threat of Ezekiel Elliott on the ground and in the air looms large.
Jeanna Thomas on FOX 5
Ya’ll haven’t disappointed with your answers to Jeanna’s FOX 5 Mailbag segment so far, so did you keep it up this week? Of course you did.
Jeanna asked Twitter who the Falcons should bring back to make the playoffs, and you can check the segment and see if your tweet was featured, here.
For the record: Bring me Joey Harrington lined up as a receiver in the wildcat formation for no other reason than I’m a masochist.
DW breaks it down
The implications of this matchup are obviously massive. In fact, they’re so important that David Walker wrote his required weekly feature about it. We obviously won’t know who wins until the clock hits 00:00, but he’s bullish on the Falcons’ chances against the Cowboys.
Matt Bryant back at practice
Falcons kicker Matt Bryant hasn’t played since the game against Tampa Bay in Week 6, but he was back at practice on Thursday. Giorgio Tavecchio has been a godsend in his stead, so there are obvious decisions to be made at the kicker position going forward.
Tavecchio will likely resume kicking duties against the Cowboys, but it’s great to see Bryant back. We’ll keep a keen eye on this going forward.
Falcoholic Matt did a podcast and nothing broke
There were no insurance policies cashed in this week, but Matt Chambers joined our pal Chase Thomas on his podcast to discuss the state of Falcons football. Be sure to give it a listen.
