As the Eastern coast of the United States goes through a barrage of winter’s worst, here’s hoping this morning’s hot plate of Atlanta Falcons links will help you stay cozy and warm.
Here’s the news and commentary as it looks going into this chilly Thursday for some.
No, Not More Injuries
Wednesday, the Falcons updated the injury list that’s been a thorn in the team’s side all season, with expected names like Matt Bryant, Derrick Shelby and fresh-off IR Deion Jones popping up.
Bryant and Shelby probably won’t play Sunday barring a surprise, and Jones was always going to be a 50/50 chance. Mohamed Sanu is also still dealing with his hip.
Seeing guys like De’Vondre Campbell, Damontae Kazee and Bruce Carter worries you, though, as the team needs that defense as healthy as possible to take on Ezekiel Elliott and the Cowboys.
Checkmate
Our own Adnan Ikic has a mighty fine analysis on Vic Beasley, likening the speedy-but-limited pass rusher as a bishop in the big game of football chess.
We’ve all aired out our frustrations with Beasley’s play, but Adnan does a great job of breaking down exactly what’s so difficult with the way the pass rusher is trying to get his pressures. Give it a read, why don’t you?
Alpha Debo
Speaking of sound Falcons stories, why don’t you also give Kevin Knight’s take on the importance of getting Deion Jones back into the lineup a look. Kevin goes from the leadership perspective, breaking down exactly what makes Debo such a vital cog in what Atlanta wants to do from a perspective you might not have previously thought.
Liven Up, Folks!
Speaking of Kevin and Adnan, they’re regulars on our great The Falcoholic Live, and this week, they welcomed some random dude onto the show to discuss the Cleveland game that was and the Dallas game to be, as well as the glorious return of Deion Jones. ‘
Oh, wait, that’s me. Should’ve recognized the face. If you can stomach more of me, give the replay a spin this morning as the snow melts.
History and Misery
Well, the Falcons are poised for more malevolent milestones. I’ll let head honcho Dave Choate fill you in on this newest fracas, but safe to say, it’ll have you grinding your teeth like you haven’t in quite some time.
Jalen Collins sighting
Well, if you’re curious about the goings-on of former Falcons cornerback Jalen Collins, it looks like he’s beginning to get back into the league with a team that could use some corner help: the Indianapolis Colts.
This is interesting: the Colts tried out former Falcons CB Jalen Collins, per source. He recently completed a 10-game suspension, the 4th of his career. The 42nd pick in the 2015 NFL draft.

If Collins can grow past some of his immaturity issues from his Atlanta days, he can still be a solid player in the NFL. All the best to him as he tries to revamp his career.
Alright, folks, those are the links and things you need as Old Man Winter blows by. Warm up with a hot cup of coffee and our piping-hot takes, and we’ll see you out there.
