Falcons fans were briefly riding high in the wake of that impressive win over Washington, but if history has taught us anything, it’s that these Falcons are not to be trusted. Faced with that crushing loss in Cleveland last Sunday, it’s clear that many fans no longer do.
Our most recent FanPulse survey saw a one week drop from 72% of respondents saying they were confident in the direction of the team down to 29%. The mask had been torn off these Falcons, who were embarrassed on the road and had their effort very justifiably questioned, and we also know that 4-5 teams make the playoffs at an absolutely dismal rate, no matter how close they might be in the playoff hunt at the moment. Confidence quite simply cratered.
Again, the reasons for that aren’t hard to understand. This team has been hanging by a thread for weeks now, and that three week winning streak seemed to augur better things ahead. By allowing themselves to play such a listless game when every week is essentially a referendum on this team, the Falcons ensured fans aren’t going to trust them to do much of anything for a while.
What is your confidence level like with these Falcons?
