It was a rough day for the Atlanta Falcons. It’s hard to digest a loss like that. A playoff berth seems like a real long-shot at this point. And given that we’re only in week 5, we likely have several miserable months ahead of us. But alas, there were injuries. Let’s break them down, Falcoholics.
Julio Jones had a pretty rough day. Steve Sarkisian struggled to get his star wide receiver involved. On one of his first targets, Jones got a little dinged up. Probably just your typical Julio playing hurt scenario, but it’s something to keep an eye on.
Takk McKinley left the game late in the second quarter with what was described as “cramping.” It looked much more serious initially because he was grabbing at his right hamstring. He earned a “questionable” designation but got back in the game during the third quarter.
Desmond Trufant left the game momentarily during the second half, making a quick trip to the medical tent. He got banged up trying to take down James Conner, but he quickly returned.
Matt Ryan was pulled late in the game under circumstances that give us pause. He was sacked six times today, the most this season and the most in a single game since 2014. He was seen exiting the x-ray room at Heinz Field after the game. And the Falcoholic’s Allen Strk, who was in the locker room after the game, noticed that Ryan had a patch covering his left elbow. Losing Ryan would be catastrophic, so let’s hope that’s not where this is headed.
