Mercedes-Benz Stadium will look to open roof for 2nd consecutive Falcons game

The roof, the roof, the roof will be open!

Look, up in the sky! It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s a gigantic open roof thing!

The good folks who make the calls at Mercedes-Benz Stadium have decided to give the big expandable roof its due once more Monday night for the Atlanta Falcons and their game against the New York Giants, should the weather allow it to be so.

The roof was open last week for team’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, which willed the team a win. Maybe that’s what will help the Falcons get it going this season ... a big halo of light showing down for any and all to see.

The roof has had its share of drama since the stadium opened in 2017, with it unable of cracking wide and pouring in the sunshine or moonlight for most of last season. Though, in the offseason, the organization got it all figured out with math and things, and now, the roof opens. Look, I’m not an engineer and took the most basic math class I could in college to get out of it, so don’t expect a schematic breakdown here.

If you’re at the game Monday night, you’ll get to see the Atlanta night sky show in as the Falcons try to get their third win of the year. Here’s to the good folks at MBS for making it possible. Yay roof, so sayeth Woodroof.
