Ito Smith may or may not turn out to be a great NFL running back, but he’s undeniably enjoying a fine start to his Falcons career, and he’s got a team record to show for it.
As we mentioned, Smith had an opportunity to set a rookie record for consecutive games with a rushing touchdown. He did early in the second quarter, showing some agility and explosion en route to a long touchdown run to put the Falcons up 14-6.
With Tevin Coleman approaching free agency and Devonta Freeman chronically dinged up of late, Ito Smith has a legitimate opportunity to become a major part of this offense going forward. Aside from a few blips her and there, he’s not done nothing to argue against that kind of role, and I’m excited to see what the fourth rounder has in store for us.
Congratulations on the record, Ito Smith!
