If you could take one Buccaneer, who are you adding to the Falcons?

Options abound on offense, and are...more limited on defense.

NFL: Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Atlanta Falcons Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

Last week proved to be a tough call for Falcons fans asked to select the one player they would add to Atlanta’s roster from Pittsburgh, though I bet it wasn’t such a difficult call after Cam Hayward and T.J. Watt made Matt Ryan’s life miserable. This week, though, the call is once again a difficult one.

That’s because the Falcons are playing the Buccaneers, one of the most bewildering teams in the NFL. Every year, Tampa Bay seems to add fresh talent to their roster, and every year, they seem to come up well short of actually doing anything with it. This week is still very much up in the air—the Bucs are 2-2 and only have one awful game thus far—but it’s fair to wonder if a Mike Smith defense in 2018 can do enough to keep them in games.

Still, there’s talent here. You could take a hard look at Ali Marpet to help on the interior of this struggling offensive line, or Demar Dotson and Donovan Smith if you wanted a salve at tackle, though neither player distinguished themselves against a nasty Bears pass rush in Week 4. There’s receiver Mike Evans, who would turn this receiving corps into even more of a ridiculous asset than it already is. And then there’s young, useful defensive linemen like Noah Spence and Vita Vea who would at least give Atlanta upside and talent along a shaky front, even if neither has done much to this point.

Personally, I’d be tempted to go with Marpet. The Falcons have an increasing, uncomfortable number of questions about their offensive line heading into next season, and getting one of the quietly better young interior linemen in the NFC would help take care of that for a few seasons. But the smart pick might still be Gerald McCoy, who remains one of the most potent defensive tackles in the game despite his advancing age, and a nice addition to a defensive line that needs help right now.

Who would you pick?
