For the second straight week, the Falcons offense put big numbers on the board but watched it squandered as the defense couldn’t stop the Bengals from scoring one more point. Even still, there are several candidates for offensive player of the game, so that’s something I guess?
Matt Ryan
The Falcons QB turned in yet another stellar game that ended in a loss. He finished 29/39 for 419 yards, 3 TDs and 0 INTs. It was another strong performance that was undermined by a defense that couldn’t stop the Bengals offense for most of the game, and he just ran out of time for a furious comeback.
Calvin Ridley
Add another 2 touchdowns to Ridley’s crazy good rookie season. The first round pick has shown tremendous route running and has already earned the trust of Matt Ryan early on. His four catches for 54 yards and 2TDs only underscores just how good he already is.
Mohamed Sanu
The underappreciated Sanu had several key third down conversions en route to 6 catches for 111 yards. Several of the scoring drives would have stalled out were it not for his ability to convert on key downs.
Julio Jones
How does a receiver have 9 catches for 173 yards and not even seem like he was at his best? That’s Julio for you. He put up ridiculous numbers and it still felt like he probably could have done more. This offense thrives when the opposing defense has to account for him.
