Falcons-Rams playoff open thread, key info and tracker

Atlanta’s hoping for a second consecutive deep playoff run, while the Rams are hoping to continue a magical season.

The entire season has built, haphazardly and with many fits and starts, to this moment. The Falcons are in the playoffs with essentially a clean slate, and the chance to wipe out a lot of the frustrations they endured during their 10-6 regular season that saw them finish third in the NFC South.

Their opponent is the Los Angeles Rams, who have very few weaknesses besides an average run defense, a gaping hole at the kicker position, and playoff inexperience. There are a huge range of possible outcomes for these Rams, as I won’t be surprised if the Falcons beat them today and I won’t be particularly shocked if they represent the NFC in the Super Bowl. They should be a contender for years to come, regardless of how this one finishes up.

Here’s what you’ll need to know tonight, plus our Twitter tracker. As always, use this as your open thread for the game. Go Falcons!
