The Atlanta Falcons are in the playoffs and if the stars align properly, they could do some damage in the weeks ahead. So while everyone is primarily focused on the task at hand (knocking off the Los Angeles Rams in three days), this is also the time of year where various awards are given out.
Pro Football Focus named their “All-Pro Team” yesterday. Three Falcons were included. Some deserving Falcons weren’t included.
Matt Ryan is the second team quarterback, behind first team quarterback Tom Brady. Julio Jones is a first team wide receiver. And Deion Jones is a second team linebacker. As for who didn’t make the All-Pro Team, PFF put out a list of the top twelve players that missed the cut. Alex Mack is on that list.
Say what you want about PFF, there is a concrete, evidence-based method to their madness. I find it particularly amusing that Matt Ryan was named the second team quarterback, because notwithstanding all the chatter about his regression after Kyle Shanahan’s departure, PFF still thinks he’s pretty swell.
