The Falcons put Andy Levitre on injured reserve this past week, leaving Ben Garland to push ahead as the starter. They can ill afford many more injuries, particularly on offense, where the depth thins out more quickly.
The good news, then, is that there is no indication that Devonta Freeman is going to miss the Rams game. He’s hurt, certainly, and the team is taking it easy with him in the run-up to the game. While we may see more Tevin Coleman this weekend again—he actually out-snapped Freeman last game—I’d expect Freeman to be active and running in his typical fearless way. The Falcons certainly need him.

Things are less certain for Andre Roberts, the Falcons’ polarizing return man. He finished the year as one of the league’s leading returners despite penalties wiping out several big returns, but he also had a nasty habit of taking the ball out of the end zone and getting taken down at the 15 yard line or so. If he can’t go, chances are good the Falcons will hand the keys over to somebody like Justin Hardy for the Rams game.
Stay tuned for more updates tomorrow, but I’m hopeful the Falcons will have everyone but Levitre when the bell tolls 8 p.m. on Saturday.
