So, the NFC lost the Pro Bowl. That has no consequences whatsoever, but Alex Mack blocked well for an exhibition/flag football game and Deion Jones led the NFC squad in tackles, so that’s nice.
Regardless of the outcome, the Falcons did put some players in the Pro Bowl in an uneven year, so we’re here to once again take a peek into the future. The question of the night is in the title, so
I overshot the number of Falcons in earlier predictions, mostly because De’Vondre Campbell and Adrian Clayborn didn’t have the stats to get in and Matt Bryant never does get his due as a kicker, but I’m here to guess who we might see next year.
- WR Julio Jones
- C Alex Mack
- RT Ryan Schraeder
- DT Grady Jarrett
- LB Deion Jones
- S Keanu Neal
Yes, it’s fairly ambitious, but I could see all of these players making it. Julio, Mack, Debo and Neal all have Pro Bowls under their belts, which increases the chances they’ll return, while Jarrett was at least on peoples’ radars. Schraeder is one of the better right tackles in the game, and with an improved Wes Schweitzer or a better starter next to him, I anticipate he’ll once again have the kind of season that gets you noticed by voters.
I’d love to believe Matt Ryan will be back, but I’m dubious of his chances given the quarterback picture in the NFC. I need to take a wait-and-see approach with Devonta Freeman’s health, as well, and Vic Beasley and Takk McKinley’s chances are dependent on ridiculous sack totals, and I try not to bank on those.
Who do you have going?
