Deion Jones just put together his second consecutive dominant season, and he’s earned his place in the Pro Bowl as a result. An alternate when the Pro Bowl rosters were first announced, Debo will be heading to...where’s the Pro Bowl now? Orlando! Orlando.
It’s a well-deserved honor for Jones, who has turned himself into one of the league’s premier linebackers in short order. His coverage skills are phenomenal, he’s one of the NFL’s better playmakers at his position, and he absolutely has Drew Brees’ number. If he keeps up his current pace, Jones will be one of the Falcons’ best linebackers ever, and in relatively short order.
He finished the regular season with 138 tackles, one sack, and three interceptions, including that leaping pick of Drew Brees that sealed a home win against New Orleans. He joins Alex Mack in Orlando, and there’s a slim possibility that another Falcon will end up there if enough players drop out.
Julio Jones, meanwhile, has bowed out due to injury. Whether that’s a new ailment or Jones’ nicks and bruises, I can’t say, but I really don’t blame the man for not wanting to play through them in the Pro Bowl. Julio is` coming off a typically stellar season with some lousy results in the end zone,
Congratulations to Deion Jones! Maybe he get an interception at the Pro Bowl, just to say he did.
