Matt Bryant will not retire in 2018, per Melissa Bryant

Whether he’ll be back with the Falcons is the question, but I expect the answer will be “yes.”

I spent this morning pulling together a list of free agents for the Falcons this offseason, and I tentatively put down Matt Bryant as a yes to return. He kicked at a high level again in 2017, the Falcons would have to start over at kicker if they moved on from him, and I truly believe Bryant wants to kick until he’s 50. And that he could do so, frankly.

Retirement seemed like the only thing that could really derail a reunion, and thanks to Matt Bryant’s wife Melissa, we’re now pretty certain that isn’t going to happen.

Bryant is a free agent heading into this offseason, so the Falcons will need to get him back under contract for the year ahead. Bryant is one of the league’s pricier kickers, but he’s worth every penny with his clutch kicking, and he is indeed coming off one of the better seasons of his career. The Falcons will likely make him a priority and get something done, likely in the 1-2 year range, sometime in February or March.

That’s one less thing to worry about, at least!
