Falcons vs. Bills Injury Synopsis

New, comments

Both the Falcons and the Bills will be a little banged-up heading into Week 4. Here are the final injury reports for each team.

After having fairly good injury luck early in the season, the Falcons have begun to pile up a sizable injury report. That will no doubt hurt them on Sunday when they host the 2-1 Buffalo Bills, who also may be missing a few starters. The good news for the Falcons is that they have a bye next week, but first they’ll have to get through this game. We all hope they can manage to come away with another win, and enter the bye atop the NFC with a 4-0 record.

Without further adieu, let’s take a closer look at the final injury reports for both Atlanta and Buffalo.

Falcons Injury Report

FS Ricardo Allen (concussion)
EDGE Vic Beasley (hamstring)
RT Ryan Schraeder (concussion)
DT Courtney Upshaw (ankle/knee)
RB Terron Ward (neck/shoulder)

DL Jack Crawford (shoulder)
WR Julio Jones (back)

The Falcons are pretty banged up heading into Week 4, with three starters and two rotational players already confirmed out. Allen, Beasley, Schraeder, Upshaw, and Ward all failed to practice at all this week. That means more reps for Takkarist McKinley and Ty Sambrailo, and the first start for rookie Damontae Kazee. Hopefully they’ll all continue to play well on Sunday.

For the other two players, I’m really not sure. The Falcons have yet to update their official report, so I can’t tell you the status of Crawford or Jones for Sunday’s game. At worst, they’ll both be questionable, but there’s been no indication that either is in danger of missing Sunday’s game. Both players were able to practice in a limited fashion on Wednesday and Thursday, so it’s more likely just precautionary or rest-related.

Bills Injury Report

LT Cordy Glenn (foot/ankle)

DE Shaq Lawson (groin)

LB Lorenzo Alexander (rest)
DT Marcell Dareus (ankle)
RB LeSean McCoy (wrist)
DT Kyle Williams (rest)
DT Jerel Worthy (concussion)

The Bills have plenty of players on the injury report, but only two are in danger of missing Sunday’s game. LT Cordy Glenn is officially out after being unable to practice this week. DE Shaq Lawson was a late addition to the report after suffering a groin injury in Thursday’s practice. He did not participate in Friday’s practice and is questionable to play.

As for the rest of the players on the report, they were all either given veteran days of rest (Alexander, Williams) or were recovering from their respective injuries. McCoy, Dareus, and Worthy all practiced fully to close out the week and will be available for Sunday’s game.

Injuries suck, and they’ll certainly be a factor during Sunday’s game. The Falcons will be relying on several young players to step up and fill some pretty big shoes. At least they’ll be able to do it at home, and—particularly on the defensive side—they don’t have to go up against a incredibly dynamic opponent. The Bills are also down at least one starter, and if Lawson is unable to go as well, that could help mitigate the loss of Schraeder for this game.

What do you think about the injury reports for both teams? Anything make you particularly worried? Do you think the Falcons can take advantage of the absence of LT Cordy Glenn?
