You can help Vic Beasley fight childhood cancer with the Rally Foundation

Beasley has an impact on and off the field.

NFL: Atlanta Falcons-Minicamp Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

Vic Beasley was a force last season. He finished his second year in the NFL with 39 tackles and a league-leading 15.5 sacks. As someone who pledged $4.40 per tackle to Beasley’s Tackle and Sack Challenge benefiting the Rally Foundation, I was thrilled for the impact Beasley had on and off the field.

The Rally Foundation is a non-profit based in Atlanta that works to raise money for research toward a cure, new and innovative treatments, and to help support families as they battle childhood cancer. It’s not limited to any type of cancer. Any childhood cancer is a challenge Rally, and Beasley, are ready to take on.

Beasley is Mary Tipton Carter’s favorite player, and Mary Tipton Carter is one of my favorite Rally Kids. During a dinner Beasley hosted last spring to thank people who contributed to Rally through his Challenge, Mary Tipton shared in her own words what Rally — and Beasley’s commitment to the organization — have meant to her and her family. She was kind enough to allow me to publish her perspective.

Good evening. My name is Mary Tipton Carter and I am a Rally Kid. If you don’t know what a Rally Kid is, a Rally Kid is a child who has or had cancer and is involved with the Rally Foundation. The Rally Foundation raises money for childhood cancer. This is because the National Cancer Institute only donates 4 percent of their money to childhood cancer research and the rest goes to adults. This is why there are so many organizations, including Rally, that have been made to raise money.

Rally also supports Rally Kids. They come visit the Rally Kids while they’re in the hospital. This can be during scans or chemo. They also support us out of the hospital. They invite you to be in fun events like Rally Idol.

It is important for everyone here to contribute to this year’s Vic Beasley Sack and Tackle Challenge because it will raise money for childhood cancer research for better treatments. Who knows, maybe this event could raise enough money to create a whole new treatment! So make sure you do this challenge again.

Rally has lots of fun things that Rally Kids get to do. We get to go to Braves games, Falcons spring training, plus one of my favorites, Rally on the Runway. This is where I became very good friends with our wonderful host, Vic Beasley. So please contribute to the Vic Beasley Sack and Tackle Challenge this year. Thank you.

Rally Foundation does so much more than just raise money. If a family is sitting at the hospital with a child who’s going through treatment or waiting for test results, Rally is there. They organize fun activities for kids and families and support them in so many different ways.

It’s an organization you can trust, also. Charity Navigator has rated the Rally Foundation as exceptional, with its highest rating of four stars.

Beasley has also served as the honorary chair for Rally on the Runway, a truly fun fundraising event Rally hosts each year.

You can help Beasley support the Rally Foundation by pledging to his challenge on Rally’s website.
