Falcons tease a uniform announcement for the 2017 season

The return of throwbacks?

NFL: San Diego Chargers at Atlanta Falcons Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

A year ago, the Falcons positively delighted a lot of fans by actually rolling out some throwback uniforms. We got the classic Falcons logo and the black uniforms for a couple of games in 2016, and while I can’t be certain, I think that’s a major reason the Falcons wound up back in the Super Bowl for the second time in franchise history.

Now the team’s teasing the possibility of a new uniform (which, if we’re being honest, will almost certainly be a throwback one), and it’s safe to say we’re intrigued. The only question is which ones we’re going to get, and whether it’s going to be just for a game or two or for the whole damn 2018 season. Please let it be the latter.

In case you’re wondering, Falcons site editor Matt Tabeek put together a poll asking what everyone’s favorite color combinations were, and the answers leaned overwhelmingly toward my personal favorite, which is the all-black uniform combo. Whether those poll results were important as the Falcons made whatever decision they were going to make remains to be seen.

At the end of the day, we’re all Falcons fans, so we’re obviously (and hilariously) overexcited about the possibility of a uniform change. I’d love to wildly speculate about what we’re going to get and whether we’re going to get more than a game or two, but for now, we’ll just wait and see what the day brings.

You’re welcome to guess, though.
