Falcons activate Jordan Tripp, Brian Hill for first time against Lions

New, comments

There’s a small raft of quality injured players, however.

The Falcons kick off against the Lions shortly, and as we’ve previously noted, they’ll be down Terron Ward, Vic Beasley, Courtney Upshaw, and Ryan Schraeder. That’s the longest injury list of the young season, and it’ll make the sledding a little bit tougher against this Lions team. I’m still banking on a win, however.

There are a couple of small notes to make here that have nothing to do with injury, however. Jermaine Grace is inactive for the first time in favor of Jordan Tripp, a reserve linebacker with significant special teams experience who probably will get a couple of snaps tonight on defense and several more on teams. Grace could be a valuable long-term reserve on this team, but at least for one week, he’ll be watching from the sidelines.

The other note is that with Ward out, Brian Hill is making his NFL regular season debut. Ward hasn’t touched the football yet and has barely played behind Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman, and I don’t expect Hill to get much more run. Nonetheless, keep an eye out for him just in case the Falcons get him involved for a snap or two.
