The Falcons own the Packers

When was the last time Atlanta lost to Green Bay?

The Atlanta Falcons and the Green Bay Packers are pretty much inseparable. Since October 2016 — 11 months ago — the two teams have squared off three times.

The Falcons have emerged victorious in each of those matchups.

Sunday night, Green Bay had the pleasure of being the first opponent in Atlanta’s new Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The Falcons won 34-23, and at one point held a 31-7 lead over the Packers.

The duel — if you want to call it that — Sunday night started out in similar fashion to the 2016 NFC Championship Game. The Falcons won that matchup 44-21, advancing to the franchise’s second Super Bowl appearance. It was also the final game in the Georgia Dome.

Before that, the two teams played a much closer Week 8 game in the 2016 regular season. Atlanta won that game 33-32 on a game-winning touchdown catch by Mohamed Sanu.

There’s no doubt about it: the Falcons, led by Dan Quinn, own the Packers.
