The Falcons get their first primetime game of the 2017 season at home in the shiny new Mercedes-Benz Stadium, against the team that they annihilated en route to the Super Bowl. You can’t line ‘em up much better than that, I’d say.
Of course, the Falcons have to win this, and despite last year’s performance in the playoffs that’s not going to be a given. Green Bay just made the Seahawks look lousy and still have the best quarterback in the NFL in the prime of his career, which means Atlanta will have its work cut out for it unless they play leaps and bounds better than they did against Chicago. Thankfully, they won’t have to contend with the same kind of commitment to and excellence in the run game, but the secondary will be tested far more than they were against the Bears. One hopes they’ll be up to the challenge, and for what it’s worth, I believe they will be.
Here’s what you’ll need to know to watch this next game. I would consider letting your boss know you’ll be a little late Monday morning.
