Linebacker LaRoy Reynolds may not be a household name as he has only been a relief player on defense. However, Reynolds is an important contributor as one of the team’s best special teams players.
So it is a little alarming that he is already out for next week’s game, and is looking for a second opinion.

LB LaRoy Reynolds will also not play on Thursday night with a chest injury. RB Devonta Freeman will return to practice tomorrow, Quinn says

He went out last knight on a kickoff coverage with a “shoulder” injury that apparently is a chest injury.
LB LaRoy Reynolds is questionable to return with a shoulder injury. #AZvsATL

#Falcons coach Dan Quinn said LB LaRoy Reynolds will get a second opinion on his chest injury. (Doesn't sound promising)

A chest injury can really only be so much. I’ll avoid speculating here, but I can’t think of anything that would require a second opinion that isn’t also putting him at risk for injured reserve. Additionally, a second opinion typically comes in when players are looking at a severe injury that could put them out for a month or longer.
For a player like Reynolds, seeking a second opinion means his season is very likely in jeopardy. We hope the second opinion comes back positive, but it is hard to be optimistic after this news.
