Is the final preseason game..dare we say..a MUST win?

Here is an unbelievable but sobering statistic: In the 51 years of Super Bowls, there has been only one, count it, ONE team to go 0-4 in the preseason and win the Super Bowl: the 1982 Washington Redskins in a strike-shortened season. Whether you pish-tosh that statistic, it exists whether you ascribe to it or not. Apparently the ability to win at least a game and win the big game speaks to the depth of talent and coaching, both of which we know are important in the overall scheme.

Some may assert that this is no more than the "no MVP since 1999 has won the Super Bowl" or "The team in white has won the last ten Super Bowls" as pure coincidence yet 50 of 51 winners have won at least one game in the preseason. Do you believe the statistic is relevant or can an 0-4 team buck probability as did the '82 Redskins? I think we need a win if nothing else but to make victory the rule rather than the exception.
