The Falcons have ruled out five players for tomorrow’s preseason Week 3 game

Devonta Freeman is the biggest name on the list.

While we wait around to see if the Falcons are going to play Julio Jones and Taylor Gabriel this Saturday, we can talk about the players we already know the team is ruling out. There are five, at the moment.

Per the mothership, Atlanta will be without the services of probable swing tackle Austin Pasztor, rookie sensation Damontae Kazee, and veterans Martin Ifedi and Blidi Wreh-Wilson, who are fighting for roster spots. Pasztor’s continued absence is interesting given that he seems like the obvious choice to back up Jake Matthews and Ryan Schraeder, but frankly he’s the easy favorite even if he doesn’t play a preseason snap.

The fifth player is Devonta Freeman, who has been dealing with a concussion and should not touch the field during preseason, given his importance to the offense and the potential for making things worse with playing time. I’m hoping the team will take a similar approach with Julio and Turbo, but we’ll know a little later today.

We hope all of these guys are healthy in time for the regular season, especially those like Pasztor and Kazee who seem like virtual roster locks.
