The Atlanta Falcons lost a football game to the Pittsburgh Steelers today. This was week two of the preseason, and franchise quarterback Matt Ryan played exactly one series. The first team offense and defense impressed, then Matt Simms took over. If for any reason you’re panicking, don’t. Just don’t. But alas, there were injuries. Let’s break them down.
Matt Schaub was banged up during the Falcons’ second offensive drive. It looked like he hurt his hand and Third Matt Simms immediately replaced him. Quinn swore there was no injury in the post-game presser, so that’s encouraging, I suppose.
There was a scary moment involving cyborg punter Matt Bosher late in the second quarter. He punted with a little over a minute to play in the first half and a defender was pushed back into him. That caused him to land squarely on what would be his tail bone (if he were human) from about four or five feet in the air, and it didn’t look like it felt good.
Damontae Kazee tweaked his ankle on the same play and hobbled into the locker room early before halftime. (If you recall, he had an ankle injury during training camp as well.) For what it’s worth, Kazee tweeted during the second half that he’d be back next week.
Nothing Earth-shattering, so that’s good. Your thoughts?
