Throughout most of the spring and early summer, I assumed Brian Hill had the third job sewn up. He was a physical, rookie runner the team selected in the fifth round, and the team had only one established third option to take him on. I like Terron Ward fine, but I looked past him, and I’ll own that.
Now things are much more interesting. Ward continues to play well in his preseason snaps and has genuine experience to bring to the table, while Hill has largely scuffled. That doesn’t diminish his long-term potential, but I’m becoming increasingly convinced that Ward can take this job away. I’m waiting to see what happens this coming week against the Steelers before I change my mind here, but I’ll go with Hill cautiously at the moment.
So who do you think wins? Sound off and then use this as your open thread for the night, if you would.
